Central Sarawak from the coastline off Bintulu and following the mighty Rajang River in land - passing Sibu, and deep into interior towns of Mukah, Dalat to Balingian. This basin is uniquely blended bearing the notable mark of the Foochows and the indigenous Melanaus. Adding distinctly to Sarawak’s diverse culinary landscape.

The next edition of Ethnic Sarawak Night’s Food Trail series, in collaboration with Zafigo.com, ventures into Central Sarawak with a menu inspired by the best eats of Sibu and Mukah district’s towns. Curating Sibu’s famed Kampua, a dish defined by springiest hand-made noodles, and Kompia - the Foochow’s bagel, to Mukah’s Umai, the Melanau’s Linut to Balingian’s most sought Paeh, these heritage eats span migrant flavours to indigenous ingredients defined by the riverine terroir of the Rajang..
