Print with Lego: Blockprinting Workshop

Come try printmaking in a way that's easy to start, low-waste, and in a funky pixel / dot matrix style! Before digital printing was invented, prints of text or images were created by first adding a mirrored version of the content to a block, adding ink, then pressing or stamping it onto paper or postcards. In this session, you will learn a bit about the arts of block printing and letterpress, create your own designs out of Lego, then print them using a variety of inks.

Paper and cards will be provided but you are also free to bring in other things you might want to print on such as tote bags or t-shirts

About the Instructor

vaguely daydreams is an art-brand and the brain spawn of one girl named Kai born and raised in KL.

After a short printmaking course in college, she became enamoured with the art form of linocut and block printing and has continued dabbling in it for the past 6 years Printmaking allows her to bridge the gap between illustration and other crafts such as sewing and bookbinding, as a way of reproducing her designs onto many surfaces.

However, as a home-based, craft hobbyist without a dedicated art space nor a big budget to buy supplies, she also focuses on improvising with different tools and methods such as building lego blocks instead of carving rubber to reduce waste, and aims to share the different things she has tried through her workshops .
